Because this we know is true: the community where you spend your time shapes who you are. We tell this to children all the time when they are growing up – choose your friends wisely, we say. We know it to be true in larger ways in the world, as well. Where we spend our time shapes our lives. And this is the very reason we gather together as this community of faith. …

And in his life Jesus taught us….he taught us about one concept, one idea, one great commandment….love. A love that is so wide that it includes everyone, even those we think don’t deserve it. Even those whose ticks in their column in the ledger doesn’t contain nearly as many as ours. It’s a hard, hard lesson, this grace. Hard for those of us who want…

And that brings me to the last cross I brought with me today. I made this cross on internship, as a Vacation Bible School project with a group of high school students.
